  16. ISSUE/PROBLEM
  17. The following problems all occur exclusively when accessing an AS/400 via
  18. PC Support:
  19. 1.  In addition to the problems corrected by PTF 316, support for the
  20. connection of three AS/400s on a Token Ring network did not work because
  21. the third Mac address over laid the second Mac address. 
  22.  
  23. 2.  If A is pressed to Add a Student when using Schools Administrative
  24. Student Information (SASI), from Macro Educational Systems,  the
  25. workstation locks with COMM ERROR 001 00000018.  
  26.  
  27. 3.  RTRMAP from IBM, maps requests from "Extended DOS PC Support" functions
  28. into requests recognized by the NetWare Router for AS/400 PC Support.  When
  29. RVMRTR is used to remove the Router it frees the memory that RTRMAP was
  30. using but does not display a message.
  31. Note:  RTRMAP is currently available as a patch from IBM 
  32.           PTF SF09653 for Version 2 Release 1 
  33.           PTF SF09654 for Version 2 Release 1.1
  34.  
  35. 4.  When running Remote SQL (RMTSQL) from IBM with PC Support Extended, it
  36. fails with "error on start 32" 
  37.  
  38. 5.  After starting Workstation Function (WSF) from PC Support Extended,
  39. after signing on at the Sign On Screen, the monitor goes blank with the
  40. exception of two lines at the bottom:
  41.      PCS6546  0A  0001    000000A1   00
  42. The second line is the WSF status line
  43.  
  44. 6.  When the Remove PC Support (RMVPCS) command is used to release the
  45. memory of selected PC Support Functions, it does not remove the NetWare
  46. Router for AS/400 PC Support.
  47.  
  48. 7.  If the AS/400 system name is less than 8 characters, when invoking
  49. Rochester Software Connection's ShowCase software the Workstation hangs
  50. when the system is selected.  
  51.  
  52. SOLUTION
  53. 1. The ITRNPS.NLM included with this PTF adds support for the connection of
  54. three (3) AS\400s.  
  55.  
  56. 2.  The PTF corrects the problem.
  57.  
  58. 3, 4, 5. & 6.  Additional APPC verb support has been added.
  59.  
  60. 7.  The PTF modifies the recognition of the system name.
  61.  
  62. TO USE THIS PTF
  63. CSINSTAL must be used to install this PTF.  Version 1.2 of NetWare for SAA
  64. must have been installed before this PTF is installed.
  65.  
  66. To install this PTF
  67. 1.  If the communications executive is active do a CSDOWN from the CS>
  68. prompt.  Then unload the communications executive by typing "UNLOAD
  69. COMMEXEC" from the server (:) prompt.
  70.  
  71. 2.  At your server (:) prompt load CSINSTAL from  a disk containing this
  72. PTF.  For example, if you use your a: drive type "load a:csinstal".
  73.  
  74. 3.  Choose to "Update NetWare Communication Service" (the second option).
  75.  
  76. 4.  Confirm that NetWare for SAA should be updated.
  77.  
  78. 5.  Be patient (updating may take awhile--it took about 10 minutes on a
  79. test machine).
  80.  
  81. 6.  When the update completes, exit CSINSTAL.
  82. The file dates will change to the current date (except for ITRNPS.NLM which
  83. will change to a "different" date).
  84.  
  85. 7.  If three AS400s are connected configure CONFIG.PCS as in the example
  86. below.   Note that the TRLI parameters contain the three system names,
  87. followed by their local adapter addresses contained within the line
  88. configuration of the associated AS/400.

  98. 8.  Reload the Communications Executive by typing "LOAD COMMEXEC".
